FCC's HOLLINGSWORTH VISITS W4AVA/R
FCC Special Counsel for Enforcement Riley Hollingsworth K4ZDH visited W4AVA/R on February 8 and met with
Arlington County RACES Director Dave Jordan WA3GIN and Arlington County Safety Program Coordinator Will
Doggette K3SRF.
Jordan and Doggette gave Hollingsworth a tour of ARPSC's two-meter repeater located atop the Arlington County Courthouse.
Hollingsworth used the station's TS480S to make HF contacts during the visit.
Hollingsworth works in the FCC's licensure and enforcement office in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, but travels widely as part
of his job.

K4ZDH on HF at W4AVA
RACES TRAINING UNDERWAY
A five-part weekly RACES training course, cosponsored by Virginia RACES and Arlington Radio PUblic Service Club, is underway
via Webcast and voice telephone conference bridge.
Over 80 percent of RACES volunteers have participated in the live classes and Amateur Radio operators in other states
have been monitoring the training sessions. Training units three through five will be recorded so that those who are
unable to participate in the live sessions may complete training using the audio recordings and PowerPoint or PDF files
on the ARPSC web site.
In addition to norther Virginia RACES participants, the training units are being audited by RACES officers in Delaware,
Maryland, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
ANTENNA PARTY AT W4AVA HF
The final HF antenna configuration has been installed at W4AVA. The antenna farm consists of a 40-10 meter vertical and
40 and 75/80 meter half-wave dipoles. The vertical can also be operated on 30 meters with a tuner. A 160 meter dipole
and 6 meter vertical will be installed this Spring.
The antennas are fed with LMR-400 coaxial cable.

KI4NOF, has obtained call sign K9SLY. His son Blake was issued call sign KI4OBV.
